How this scam type works

From our Business Impersonation guide.

  1. The notification. 'Your Amazon order for $800 has shipped' or 'Package could not be delivered, click here to reschedule.'
  2. You call or click. A real-looking phone number or a convincing clone site.
  3. The 'refund' or reschedule fee. They ask for remote access or a small fee to resolve the issue.
  4. The drain. Credentials harvested, accounts drained, or ongoing subscription scams started.
